Thank you – we’re over 80% of the way there!

Your response to our Ukraine Hardship Appeal has been amazing. Thanks to your generosity, more students affected by the conflict will get the support they need.

Here’s how your donations have made a crucial difference to one of our students at such a challenging time:

“The reason I needed financial support was due to my parents being in Ukraine and unable to provide me with financial support – which I urgently needed as I was reaching my overdraft limit.

“The Hardship Fund helped by awarding me a grant that covered almost my entire debt and helped me to budget for an extra three months.

“I’d like to say thank you to donors who are helping students suffering as a result of the war in Ukraine. Students like me with families in the region have a lot to worry about right now, so eliminating a financial worry is a big help. Thank you!”

A thank you and a correction

A big thank you to all of our donors so far – within 24 hours, the hardship fund has received £3,000 in donations – already enough to cover a standard grant.

Your gift will help support a Bath student whose life has suddenly been turned upside down.

In this update we also want to correct an error we made when launching the appeal as we used the wrong figure for the number of Ukrainian students currently studying at Bath. We have 13 Ukrainian students not over 200. We know where we went wrong and are very sorry for this error.

If you have any questions about donating to the appeal or want to provide any feedback please contact alumni@bath.ac.uk.

Oops - this is the sort of error politicians make! Never mind: supporting these 13 students, and perhaps others affected by the war in Ukraine is the right thing to do.
